I painted this piece with that feeling we all know — when the sky is shifting and you can sense a storm coming, but the ground beneath you is still warm and alive. The field in the foreground is bright and full of energy, almost glowing, while far beyond, a small, bustling church school rests on a hillside — steady, humble, and enduring, anchoring the horizon in faith and guidance. The distance between the field and the chapel feels intentional, like a journey of growth, learning, and the shaping of character over time. There are hints of people gathered there — those quiet moments before or after a service, where life and faith meet in simple ways. They represent young lives full of promise.
To me, it all feels like a journey — those early, vibrant years of growth set against the reality that life won’t always be easy. But there is something constant in it, too. This is what I see in Valor Christian School — a place that helps shape young lives, nurturing students in truth, knowledge, and Christ-centered purpose, and preparing them to step forward with confidence. It gives them something solid to stand on, so when the storms do come, they are ready to walk forward with faith and conviction.

About the Photographer: Jay Virnoche
Photography has been a lifelong passion, beginning as a self-taught pursuit and evolving into a refined art through dedicated study and hands-on experience. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of learning from nationally and internationally recognized photography professionals, honing both technical skills and artistic vision.
Now based in Sandpoint, Idaho – a place of endless natural beauty and photographic inspiration – I focus primarily on capturing the breathtaking landscapes and diverse wildlife that define this region and beyond. While I have experience across many facets of photography, including event and sports photography, my true passion lies in “Scapes” and wildlife, where nature’s raw beauty and ever-changing light create moments worth preserving.
Through my work, I strive to bring the grandeur of the natural world into homes, offices, and personal collections, allowing others to experience the wonder of these places and creatures as I see them – one frame at a time.
